The Toll of Texting

The Florida Legislature is moving toward strengthening the law regarding texting and driving. A bill that does so just passed a key legislative committee and is headed in the right direction toward a final vote by the Senate.
The bill designates texting and driving as a primary offense, allowing law enforcement to pull over and cite people for texting and driving, rather than requiring another offense before doing so (the current law).
Through my work as an attorney, I regularly see the real human toll of texting and driving, including lives lost and families torn apart. It’s past time for the Legislature to act and get this legislation across the finish line.
