When Bill Avera began practicing law more than 60 years ago now, he set the bar for uncompromising excellence in legal skills, ethics, and personal care that are the standards of the firm that Avera & Smith is today.

That his sons Mark Avera and Lance Avera both chose law as a profession and subsequently joined him in practice was perhaps one of the biggest personal rewards he achieved during his many years as an attorney. Though he was semi-retired by the time of his death in 2009, he was still active in the community, both personally and professionally, and was gratified to see the firm grow to what it is today under the leadership of his sons and their partner, Rod Smith.
