Jennifer Biewend

Jenna to family and friends – has had her eye on the practice of law since she was a child and inspired by her uncle, Bill Avera, who encouraged and supported her dream along the way and was extremely proud to see her accomplishments.

Jenna is a 2000 Honors Graduate from the University of Florida, and a 2004 graduate of The University of Florida Levin School of Law where she received the Book Award in Appellate Advocacy, and was a member of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. She also created a support network for law students with children. Throughout her schooling, Jenna worked for Avera & Smith as a legal assistant.

Prior to joining the firm, Jenna worked for the State Attorney of the Eighth Judicial Circuit. She interned in the Domestic Violence and Traffic Divisions in 2003 – 2004. She was hired on as Assistant State Attorney in 2004, where she successfully prosecuted misdemeanor and traffic crimes in county court.

Jennifer Biewend joined Avera & Smith in 2005, and now practices in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury, wrongful death and criminal defense.

Jenna believes in giving back to the community, as well, and serves as volunteer legal advisor to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mid-Florida.

Jenna enjoys camping, photography, and gardening and being a mom to her daughter, India.
